Xander's 4!

Xander turned 4 last Friday!  Wow, he's growing up so fast.  He had his 1st birthday party with friends, and we got creative with a pirate party.

The kids walked the plank, and got some loot.

We played "Pin the X on the Treasure Map," and had a treasure hunt too.

It was my 1st time trying to make a cute cake- so I'm glad it turned out how it was supposed to!

Xander was in the zone, when opening his presents.  He opened them as fast as he could- without even talking or pausing in between.

Thanks to those that came- Xander has some fun friends.

The rest of the weekend we had family in and out, visiting from UT and NY. The cousins never tired from playing "pirates" either.

End of Summer

The end of summer has arrived. It will still be in the 100's here for awhile, but Blair is back in school- so the break is over. So we went back up to UT for the last 2 weeks that we had left, and we kept quite busy. Some things we did were: camping, Cove Fort, family parties, This is the Place, Chuck E. Cheese's, and a tour of Sweet's candy factory. On top of that we went to Wheeler Farm, a wedding (my mission comp Brooke), a baby blessing (my sis Wendy's), and 3 family reunions! Yes, we tried to cram in everything we could.

A flooded house, in the middle of the desert

Some of the joys of living in a townhome, are that you have some shared walls.  Well with the nifty layout of our particular townhomes, it places one of our neighbors over our garage and laundry room.  Well to make a long story short, one of their pipes burst in their wall, and they didn't know it until they came back from work at night.  Being that we live downstairs, and the law of gravity exists, our house was flooded in every room that was connected to that wall: the kitchen, hall, laundry room, and garage.

This was the hall.  Everywhere else there were just puddles of water, and warped baseboards and flooring.

Some dudes came and ripped out the baseboards in all of the rooms that had flooding.

They ripped up the carpet, and redecorated my living room with stuff from the hall, and all of the contents from the adjoining closet.

Then they set up fans everywhere.  Do you know how loud 6 industrial fans for 3 days are?!?!?

They cut out some of my house.

They said they were done for now.  But not before pulling out my fridge and stove (and disconnecting it), setting up some huge thing in the middle of my kitchen to zap the moisture out of the air, and shoving fans into any open nook.

Ummm- does anyone see anywhere left to walk in the kitchen?

Tag- you're it

Cousin Erica tagged me:

3 of My Joys: Family, friends, and good steak.

3 of My Fears: Something happening to my kids or husband, creepy crawly things like spiders and cockroaches, or getting abducted by a crazy person.

3 Current Obsessions: Reading, interneting (ya know- blogging, email, facebook), and finding free things to do outside the house.

3 Random Surprising Facts: Blair and I were engaged for only about 2 months before getting married, I can belch like a man (though I haven't practiced in a while), Once I put salt and vinegar chips in my eyes (to make  me cry) to try to get out of a speeding ticket.

I tag Erin, Lacey, Kathryn, and Marina

Busted

Hmmm... it looks like someone got into the cupboard and made a mess by dumping out the powder.  I think we should be able to solve this case though, because the perpetrator left evidence at the scene of the crime. A single footprint matches Will's foot exactly.

We're now back from Utah, and Blair started school today, so we're getting back into the swing of things here.  I'll round up the pictures from the last couple weeks and get them on here soon.
