Ho, Ho, Holy cow it's cold in Utah!

The boys made a snowman today.

I guess Will got tired toward the end. Either that or he fell down and couldn't move in his snowsuit :)

Of course the time that we decide to come and visit, is the time that Utah is having record cold temperatures. They said that it's about 20 degrees colder than normal! I mean lows of -4, -2, 0, 1, 2 and 3 degrees are not my thing. And highs in the (at most) 20's, aren't either.

I can't believe how filthy our cars have been getting in the nasty, muddy, salty roads here. One day I literally couldn't see out of my windshield on the freeway, and I tried to use my windshield wiper fluid, to find I was out- or it was frozen. I made it home luckily, but I had Blair check it out and in both cars this is what he found:

THE FLUID FROZEN SOLID!

Blair tried to fill up the remainder of the tank with the de-icer fluid that's good to -20, but it hasn't thawed it out, and it's still frozen days later! Geez we didn't even think to put the special window washing fluid for the winter in our cars since we live in Vegas where it stays warm year round.

A couple of weeks ago when we got here, it was a tad warmer, & my dad took Xander fishing to a local pond. I thought it had to be ice fishing, but no- I guess it wasn't. Xander has been asking to go fishing for months! Here they were right before they went:

Xander showed off his catch to me and Will. It was just a little fish, but you wouldn't believe how proud he was.

After that was when it started to get colder, so I've been trying to stick to indoor activities as much as possible ever since. It's been so fun spending time with the grandparents and our siblings that are close by.

Will has been helping my mom cook every chance he gets. She's much more patient than I am :)

We went to the Festival of Trees. Here was a Grinch themed tree that the boys liked.

We've been getting together with many of my old friends, and some cousins for lunches and playdates. It's been so nice to catch up with everyone, and see how their families are growing!

A few days ago we went to my cousin Erica's house and made gingerbread houses. My kids ate more candy than made it onto their houses I think :)

Here are the kids with their finished products.

and, Erica and I with ours... Cinnamon Toast Crunch shingles and all. It's so nice to see some family up here! Er and I are the closest in age & used to hang out at practically monthly family parties all growing up. I really took it for granted living so close, and being so close with my extended family until we're out of state now.

Here are the boys telling Santa what they hope for this year. I think they've seen Santa 3 times now (he's always in a nice warm place, and there's usually shopping for me around).

P.S. I know the writing on this post doesn't match up to where it should be exactly right, but I can't figure out how to do my blog on my mom's computer, so I just gave up! Adios from Utah :)
