Head over heels- but literally

A week ago today, I was carrying Will in a parking lot when I tripped over one of those cement barricades that are at the front of each parking spot.  I caught myself for a couple of seconds, but couldn't get my balance and I totally biffed it.  I scraped my ankle, elbow and knee pretty good- but poor Will whom I was carrying got the worse end of the deal, with the back of his head connecting with the asphalt.

The poor guy cried, and I stayed sitting in the parking lot holding him for a minute or two while a couple people came and asked if we were okay.   It was pretty embarrassing of course, but I didn't even want to look at my wounds until I got home.  I was worried about my poor baby, but luckily he stopped crying and seemed fine after that.  He kept telling everyone, "Mommy falled down, and threw me, and I hit my head, and her knee just hurt too."

A few days later I took Xander & Will to one of those places where they have all the blow-up bounce houses and slides.  Will was just standing there stationary on the ground when a little girl, running full blast from one toy to another, ran right into him.  His head hit the ground before the rest of his body, and this time the cry was much worse and lengthy.  I picked him up and tried to talk to him and look in his eyes to see if they were dilated or anything.  He was almost going to sleep (or passing out) and I freaked out.

To make a long story short I got ahold of his Dr's office & they told me to bring him there if he wasn't bleeding, vomiting, or hadn't passed out yet.  Poor little Will seemed confused and out of it, but of course by the time the Dr. was seeing him he was already playing with a toy again and seeming normal.  The Dr. sent us home, labeling it a "mild concussion," and told me to watch him the rest of the day.

After dinner Will started throwing up, and was almost nodding off again, so I called a nurse line.  They asked me a bunch of yes/no questions and then told me to take him to the E.R. to get a cat scan.

He ended up being okay, thankfully.  During our 5 hours at the E.R. Will threw up all over their floor, refused to let them take his temperature by mouth (thus resulting in them taking it the other way and making him quite MAD), was deathly afraid of the cat scan machine and kept moving, and was quite bored with sitting around waiting.   We met quite a few interesting characters along the way.  Oh I'm so thankful that he was okay.  The combination of the 2 blows to the head in a short period of time must have caused it, but luckily there was no internal bleeding.

Painting and cleaning

Well, they finished the work at our house.

While the furniture was rearranged, and plastic still up, we decided to paint some walls ourselves, over the course of a few days.

We painted the kitchen an olive green.

Then we painted an accent wall in the living room a light tan:

We started painting the bathroom this color:

We quickly realized our mistake when it looked like we used mustard to paint with, so we changed it to a light blue instead:

We still want to paint a little bit more, but we're taking a break for now.  Besides that, we've been trying to clean up after all of our repairs.  With all of the drywall that they did, they left a layer of dust everywhere.  We still haven't brought back in half of our stuff from the garage where we moved it during the repairs either.

-and I can't blame this one on the workers, but have you ever seen a mismatched sock pile this big?  I had a few different bags of socks without a mate, and I decided to finally combine them and find some matching pairs.  This gives you a clue at how efficient I am at staying on top of household chores (not).

Ski Utah & home sweet home

We saw a lot of snow in UT.

That was Blair and my brother one morning after they helped that car get un-stuck.

When we went skiing, there was a pile of snow on our car after:

It was so cold and windy too that day.  I was so surprised Xander liked it.
Who wants to ski in
this?

Xander and Blair afterward.

What a big boy, going skiing for the 1st time.

My kids love the snow so much.  Here was Will standing like an inch from the door, ready to go out because my dad told him he was going to pull him on a sled.

Brrrrr.  After remembering all that cold, I'd better put some warmer memories up:

Here are all the grandkids getting cozy with grandma Lafaunda.

Will left his mark on my mom's fudge.  What a stinker.

We went with my family to go see the trains at a neighbor's house.  The boys LOVED it.

Now that we're back home, we're in the middle of a disaster.  The builder of the homes here has found that they need to fix some fittings on the pipes, or they break and cause floods (remember our flood back in August?- yeah, it's the same thing)  So we're having our home done right now.

Here's our house (the war zone):

Upstairs.

Looking down.

Even the garage.

After covering everything with plastic, they started cutting holes in the wall everywhere!

Holes,
holes,
and more holes.

Yep.  Here are the pieces they cut out.  They told me to plan on like 50 holes in the wall.

We'll be dealing with this until the end of the week at least, so we've been trying to stay away from our house. Luckily a few of our friends have let us come over and hang out.
